NZIQS Insurance in Construction Projects Webinar

Presented by Hesketh Henry commercial law firm.  The webinar will cover the basics of insurance and how this relates specifically to construction projects, including the parties' risks and the potential cost of a project, issues arising from the general conditions of contract, and how these are sometimes amended.  In addition, the team will discuss some topical insurance issues facing the construction industry in the wake of Covid-19 and the construction boom.

Anna Barnett, Senior Associate – Anna was admitted to the bar in 2007 working at Russell McVeagh before spending 5 years in London where she worked at Clyde & Co LLP specialising in insurance and transportation.  Since joining Hesketh Henry in September 2017, Anna has advised on a wide range of commercial disputes, particularly in the areas of insurance, construction, and trade & transport.  Anna acts for clients in all types of construction matters, both front and back end.  She is familiar with all major forms of construction contract and has advised on bespoke contract terms. Anna is a member of the New Zealand Insurance Law Association and the Society of Construction Law.

Rob McStay, Associate – Rob joined the litigation and dispute resolution team at Hesketh Henry in February 2016.  Rob is a key member of the construction team and assists clients with various construction disputes and has been involved in several adjudications (under the Construction Contracts Act 2002) and mediations.  Rob is a developing a focus on front-end construction contract review and advice.  As such, he is familiar with standard form agreements (such as NZS 3910 / 3916, SA-2017, MBS), and regularly drafts and advises on either bespoke special conditions or entire contracts.  Rob is a member of the Society of Construction Law.

Gus Gray, Law Graduate – Gus joined Hesketh Henry as a graduate in February of this year.  He assists on a wide range of matters within the disputes team.
